Diagnostic labs

Lab software, from the sample to the signed report.

92health runs a diagnostic lab: orders from the counter and from clinics, samples tracked from collection to accession, results with critical values and a pathologist's sign-off, reports for the doctor and the patient, and quality control.

  • Pathology labs
  • Collection centres
  • Imaging centres

The report, with its ranges

Schematic
How it works01

One sample, from the order to the report.

Each step is a screen built for the person doing it. Scroll through them in the order a sample travels.

  1. Orders

From the counter and from clinics

The counter finds the patient by phone, searches the catalog of tests and panels, and picks the branch, with prices from each branch's price book. Orders from clinics arrive in an inbox to claim, hold, accept or reject, and each order can be paid by a payment link.

  2. Samples

    Collection to accession

Samples are registered, moved through collected, in transit, received and accessioned, and labelled with barcodes. Courier runs carry samples from the collection branches to the hub.

  3. Results

    Critical values and sign-off

Results are entered against their reference ranges, critical values are flagged, and a pathologist signs each one off, with every amendment kept on a timeline. Send-outs to partner labs are tracked from the order.

  4. Reports

One report, for the doctor and the patient

Each report has a doctor's view and a patient's view in English, Tamil or Hindi. A signed report reaches the ordering clinic's chart, and a critical value raises an urgent alert.

  5. Imaging

    Studies read and signed

An imaging study moves from arrival to images acquired, read and signed, with the images uploaded to the study and a structured report written from a template.

  6. Quality control

    QC runs against their limits

QC runs for analysers, phantoms, AERB dose checks and calibration are logged against the expected mean and SD, and flagged when a run falls out of range.

Reports02
Doctor and patient

One signed result, written for the doctor and for the patient.

The doctor's report keeps the clinical layout. The patient's version explains each test in plain words, in English, Tamil or Hindi, and marks what is high, low or critical.

Every version of a report is kept, so an amended report never replaces the copy that was sent without a record of it.

  • A doctor's view and a patient's view of the same report
  • English, Tamil and Hindi
  • High, low and critical flags
  • Version history for every report

The rest of 92health03

The rest of 92health, on the same record.

The clinics that order and the patients who read the reports are on the same system, so a test is ordered once and its result filed once.

Plain answers04

Questions labs ask.

Can clinics send us orders electronically?
Yes. A clinic on 92health sends tests from the consult, they arrive in the lab's inbox to accept, and the signed report goes back to the patient's chart.
Which languages do patient reports come in?
English, Tamil and Hindi. The patient's view explains each test in plain words and marks the results that are high, low or critical.
Does it run collection centres?
Yes. A collection branch registers and labels samples, and courier runs carry them to the hub lab, where they are received and accessioned.
Is it ABDM compliant?
Patient records link to ABHA numbers, and clinical records are kept in FHIR R4, the format ABDM exchanges. Sharing records through the ABDM gateway is switched on for each facility.
How do we get started?
We set up your branches, the test catalog and each branch's prices with your team, then train the front desk, the collection staff and the pathologists. Most labs start with orders and samples and add the rest from there.
Do you work with labs outside Chennai?
Yes. It runs in the browser, so a lab in Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada or Guntur, with collection centres in the towns around it, works on the same system as one in Chennai. Patient reports come in English, Tamil or Hindi.
